You might have seen this on Oprah
where Dr Oz did a demo on TV, or on youtube or heard your
yoga friend rave about this. But have you ever thought of
trying it for yourself and reaping the benefits of a clearer
breath?
Jala neti (as we know it in Sanskrit),
or nasal irrigation, is a traditional yogic/aryuvedic method
that uses a small pot (neti pot) to run water through the
nostrils to cleanse mucus membranes that line the nose and
nasal cavity. This helps promote clearer breathing and sharpened
sense of smell, strengthen vision and eyes, relieving headache,
and as a great preventive against colds and sinusitis. Everybody,
especially those with sinusitis, hay fever or pollen allergy
is likely to benefit from this practice.
A simple yet effective
technique, Jala Neti is accessible to anyone who is keen to
improve your breathing. All you have to do is to pour saltwater
solution into one nostril and let it run out through the other
while the mouth is kept open to breathe, using gravity as
an aid.
In this workshop,
Adele will share with you on why it is important to keep your
nose clean and clear, especially in a developed city like
Singapore. This will be followed by demonstration and participant
trial, before we round up the session with powerful breathing
techniques to enhance the whole experience.
All participants will
receive a neti pot free (different sizes – subject to availability)
after the whole workshop, and all other notes and materials
provided. Walk away breathing like you never did before! Come
Neti with us!
P.S. Those
with a severe cold or earache is advised not to practise,
but you can still join in the session and learn the technique
if you like.
